Spring Push Facebook Fan Contest | Dallas Photographer

It's about that time... SPRING! And I'm doing another contest to get my Facebook fan number up past 400!

Here's how you play:

1. Tell all of your friends (on Facebook or not!) about YLK photography. I'm not going to ask you outright to "suggest" my page to your friends, but that wouldn't be such a bad idea (wink wink). And don't forget to mention this contest to them, either!

2. Between now and 11:59 pm on Valentine's Day, February 14th, post something on my wall about something or someone you love. Be creative and descriptive! Tell me why I should pick you!

3. The winner will be chosen on Monday, February 15th, and here's what you'll get:

-- 1 free personal on-location mini-session (up to 1 hour shoot time) for up to 3 people
-- 1 high resolution disc with 5-10 hand-picked and fully edited images by me
-- 1 8x10 framed YLK photography still life print

Rrrrr!!!!! | Dallas Children's Photographer

Right before Thanksgiving, I had the pleasure of photographing the family of one of my daughter's best friends. And not only that, but the super awesome mother of this trio is also their Daisy Scout troop leader! To say that these three kiddos are cute would be such an understatement. It was a crazy, fun shoot to be sure!

Plaid Perfection | Dallas Family Photographer

At the end of September, I volunteered my photography services at the Princess Alexa Foundation's "Touch a Truck" fundraiser at Fossil Ridge High School in Keller. A last-minute idea prompted me to offer a $1 raffle drawing for a photo session, the proceeds going to the foundation. This handsome family of four was the winner of the raffle.

It was formed in memory of Alexa Aigner, a bright and beautiful four year old girl who passed away from neuroblastoma, a childhood cancer, on June 25, 2008."

A Family Affair | Dallas Wedding Photographer

At the end of last summer, I was asked if I would consider photographing a small, backyard wedding in mid-October. To say that I hesitated would be a complete understatement. The bride assured me that it would be no big deal, totally laid-back, and "easy." She told me that she probably wasn't going to wear a wedding dress, that the groom was going to wear shorts and flipflops, and that there would be no flowers and possibly no cake. All she wanted was some interesting candid shots of their guests enjoying themselves and she didn't even have an interest in doing any formal portraits. After promising to think about it, I thought, "Well, if I was ever going to get a laid-back wedding gig, this is it!" and I accepted the job.

And I'm so glad that I did. Due to substantial amounts of rain in the weeks leading up to the wedding, the venue was changed to their neighborhood clubhouse. The bride did wear a lovely dress and the groom wore a traditional Scottish kilt. Not flipflops and shorts. And there was a cake, too. It became a beautiful family affair and was such a fun celebration of two people's love for one another. Oh, and did I mentioned that there was a bagpiper there, as well?

I thank them for taking a chance on a newbie photographer and for allowing me to capture these precious moments on this, their special day.
