Pink Personality | Dallas Family Photographer

Way back when, my family attended the church where this cutie pie's grandpa was pastor. I knew her mom, uncle and aunt when we were all scrawny, crazy little kids. After many, many years, her sweet mom and I reconnected on Facebook and here we are!

We were losing daylight as we met for our session at the Canals at Las Colinas. And it was windy, too, but Miss C here brightened the whole experience with her spunk and cuteness. Oh my goodness, this girl simply oozes personality and boy, does she love the camera! I could take photos of her all day long. Seriously. She loves to vamp and a kid who loves to vamp is a kid after my own heart. It was great to see her mommy after all these years and it sure was my pleasure to meet her awesome daddy and get to take all of their pics!

By the way, I'm introducing my new "watermark" with this post. It's technically not a watermark and I don't know what you're supposed to call them, but whatever. The logo thingamajiggy. I decided to create one that would be a little more consistent and I hope it's not too distracting when you look at the photos!

Moo and Marketing

I have plugged moo.com before and will continue to do so because I absolutely LOVE the minicards I order from them. I also love their fun approach to business and being on their newsletter list is great, too. It is one of the very few (we're talking two or three, tops) email newsletter distros that I actually enjoy being on. I love MOO!

Crazy Beautiful | Dallas Family Photographer

When I was contacted by the mother of these girls to take their photos in time for Christmas, I was so excited! After she told me their ages, I took a chance and asked her how she'd feel about having their session in a parking garage. Well, here's proof that it never hurts to ask because she thought that it was a fabulous idea. Lucky me that I finally got a chance to use a location that I'd been itching to use and not only that, but my models were fantastically beautiful and SO easy to work with, too! I couldn't have asked for more. C&C, you are crazy beautiful.

(As noted previously, I am uploading my photos differently going forward. I am not showing favoritism by blowing these photos up twice as large as all of my previous posts!)

Note: These photos were taken at the Nordstrom parking garage at Galleria Dallas.

Experimenting with My Blog Layout

Things are going to be a little bit wonky around here for a bit while I figure out some things on Blogger. I am finally getting around to hosting my images and linking larger ones to my blog posts (for example, see first image on my Preschool Halloween post below). Just wanted to make a note so that you all won't think that I've lost my mind. I might even take a crack at designing a new banner... dunno... I kinda' like the simplicity of just having my logo up there. We'll see.

(Image not property of YLK photography)

I am offering a day of bluebonnet mini-sessions on Saturday, April 17th and here are the details:

$75 (cash only)
25-minute session
3-5 digital photos chosen by me, fully edited, and emailed to you in 1-3 weeks *

The location will be determined at a later date as I will have to do some scouting to find the right place.

If you are interested, please email me at: ylkhsk@ymail.com. There are slots available right now, but I don't know how quickly they will fill up (10-12 total, depending).

* By scheduling a session with me, it is understood that you have looked at my portfolio of work and understand what artistic liberties I take during the editing process. I look at each, individual photo and edit it according to my "vision" of how it should look. I do not do custom work and retain the right to use my own creative vision on your photos.

Preschool Halloween | Dallas Event Photographer

I volunteered my photography services at my son's preschool back in October. I don't know why I didn't think to do a post on this sooner. Probably because I've been so busy playing catch-up! Anyway, I won't post the name of the school here, obviously, but here are a few of my favorites from that morning. Kids at this age are just so stinkin' cute!

The Eyes Have It | Dallas Family Photographer

Before the holidays, I was asked by my son's friend's mother if I would take some photos of their family for Christmas cards. This was a treat for me because, as you can see in the photos, not only are they a handsome family, but as my post title suggests, "the eyes have it." Simply stunning peepers on these good-looking boys, folks. Don't even get me started on the eyelashes.

A bonus for me at this session was getting to take a few portrait shots of the boys' maternal grandmother. As most of my photos are whimsical, fun shots of toddlers and children, a chance to photograph a more "regal" subject was most welcome. And what a beautiful lady she is.

Note: These photos were taken at Southlake Town Square in Southlake, TX.
